Melbourne University Baseball Club teams play in Winter B Grade, B Reserve, and A grade 3rds and 4ths. The club also fields a women's team in the Women's Winter league. MUBC caters for players of all abilities and all experiences, and welcomes both rookies and old-hands.
Membership is open to all current and past students, current staff, and graduates of other tertiary institutions (that is, anyone who meets the University Sports Union eligibility criteria).
MUBC is a strong club both on and off the field. The club is fortunate enough to have good training facilities, both at the University, and at its home ground of Ross Straw Field in Royal Park, augmented by top-level coaching from one of the state's leading baseball coaches. On the field, teams regularly contest and win finals, including several A Grade pennants, the 1998 B Grade pennant, the 1997 A Reserve pennant, and the 1996 Women's pennant.
MUBC also sends a team annually to contest in intervarsity competition at the Australian University Games, winning regularly. (Both the baseball and the boat races!) Socially, the club is strong, with regular functions and activities throughout the year. |
